With the mind grasping at itself,
What is not illusory becomes illusory.
If there is no grasping, there is no illusion
Or non-illusion. When neither arises,
How can illusions possibly exist?
– Śūraṅgama Sūtra
In suchness, there is no illusion. But illusions arise when our mind grasps at its own projections. The world is our mind’s painting, and our biases are the colors we paint with. Then we fall in love with our own creation: the painting, not the reality.
– Jianhu Shifu
